1954: Foundation of Werner Michallik Verbandstoff- und Arzneimittelwerk

in 1954, Werner and Christel Michallik founded the Werner Michallik Verbandstoff- und Arzneimittelwerk in Frankenthal / Pfalz in the former sugar factory. With a small starting capital, they laid the foundations for today's success with their unwavering entrepreneurial skills. A look at the first balance sheet of the young company shows: 1 Volkswagen DM 5,290, 1 Messerschmitt scooter DM 2,565 and a typewriter DM 247. Soon, however, a Peugeot 403 station wagon was purchased to replace the business bicycle and trailer.

The main target groups then, as now, were small, medium-sized and large companies, administrations, schools and swimming pools, which were provided with first aid equipment.

1961: New building in Taunusstein

Seven years after the company was founded, a new building was constructed in Bleidenstadt in the Taunus (today: Taunusstein-Bleidenstadt). Growth and entrepreneurial success necessitated this bold step.

1988: New company name

The sole proprietorship became the promising WERO-MEDICAL Werner Michallik GmbH & Co KG. This also signalled the transition to the next generation of the Michallik family. Just two years later, the company invested in the expansion of its sales organisation across the country and thus also opened up the "new federal states".

1991: Construction of a logistics centre at the site

Exactly 30 years after the new building in Taunusstein-Bleidenstadt, unrelenting success heralded the next and biggest milestone in the company's history: The construction of a modern logistics centre with an adjoining administration building in Taunusstein-Neuhof. The traditional family business has always been very quality- and future-orientated: in 1997, WERO-MEDICAL was one of the first companies in the industry to introduce a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001.

2009: WERO Austria

In 2009, WERO-MEDICAL founded WERO-MEDICAL Austria GmbH & Co KG , based in Salzburg, in order to grow steadily and be represented beyond the country's borders. The business in Austria was successively expanded through the additional business location.

2010: Sustainability at WERO

The topic of sustainability was already very important to the founders Werner and Christel Michallik and, above all, a matter close to their hearts. For this reason, the topic of ecological and social sustainability was prioritised.

This development led to the commissioning of one of the largest photovoltaic systems in the region in 2010 (also known as the "largest power plant in the region" at the time). Thanks to the photovoltaic system on the company roof, around 82 tonnes of CO2 can be saved.

2015: Change of name to WERO

in 2015, WERO-MEDICAL Werner Michallik GmbH & Co. KG was renamed and restructured as WERO GmbH & Co. KG: Three additional business areas were added to the WERO.MED occupational first aid business area: WERO.CLEAN skin protection and hygiene, WERO.SAFE occupational safety and WERO.MED-X tactical emergency equipment.

2019: New management

In the course of 2019, Wolfram Michallik successfully transferred the operational management of WERO to Sebastian Aubele. As a long-standing employee of WERO, Sebastian Aubele continues the desired continuity. As a forward thinker, he also stands for innovation and dynamism.
