Slishman Traction Splint (STS) GEN. 2

The Slishman Traction Splint Gen2 (STS Gen2) offers all the benefits of the original Slishman Traction Splint (STS) plus additional improvements found in the Slishman Traction Splint - COMPACT (STS-C). It was developed to eliminate the challenges of older traction splints in the application. As a result, it is the fastest splint that both reduces on-site deployment times and increases patient comfort. Unlike other traction splints, the STS Gen2 does not require individual bars or complicated mechanisms to install. It can be applied in less than 60 seconds, making it the preferred solution in emergency situations. The traction mechanism is located on the patient's hip, with thigh traction being achieved by extending the bar segments. This creates a compressive force on the ankle or distal strap rather than generating a traction force from the feet as with conventional traction splints. Weighing only 450 g, the Slishman Traction Splint Gen2 (STS Gen2) is lightweight, compact and takes up little space in vehicles or emergency backpacks. The traction splint is versatile and suitable for both adults and children, eliminating the need to carry multiple sizes. Traction adjustment is easy to perform for maximum patient comfort and it is radiolucent, so the splint does not need to be removed for imaging or examinations. The Gen2 version incorporates improvements over the original, including articulated distal and proximal straps attached to the extension mechanism, making it easier to use and impossible to lose the straps. All three segments of the extension mechanism are connected, making the Gen2 a one-piece system. Instructions are printed on the side of the rail, along with an enclosed tri-fold, and the pressure points are well padded. The Slishman Traction Splint Gen2 (STS Gen2) also features colours to help differentiate the parts: The outer tube is black, the centre tube is silver and the inner tube is red. The moulding strap and the Slishman Pressure Wrap are red and orange respectively. The included Slishman Pressure Wrap can be attached to the feet to stabilise the rotation, which also makes the rail a multi-tool. The Slishman Traction Splint Gen2 (STS Gen2) is the perfect solution for those who need a reliable, easy to use and effective traction splint. Its advanced design and versatile features make it an essential tool for any responder who may be dealing with leg fractures. Application information The distal hook of the STS-Gen2 is applied just proximal to the ankle, calf or patella. Coarse positioning is achieved by pressing a spring button to extend and lock the outer tube. Fine traction is achieved by pulling the rope and then locking it into the V-groove with a downward pull. As all traction is controlled at the hip, adjustments can easily be made if conditions change or on the way to hospital.
