Dangers of not wearing hearing protection
Prolonged exposure to noise has been proven to make us ill and can have a decisive impact on our performance. This often results in poor concentration at work and an increased risk of accidents. If the daily noise exposure level is 80 dB (A) or higher, companies must provide their employees with suitable hearing protection, and from 85 dB (A) there is an explicit obligation to wear hearing protection. Optimum sound attenuation and reduction of the sound pressure level as well as a high level of wearing comfort are of great importance for the correct selection of hearing protection.
How important is hearing protection really?
Among other things, occupational noise-induced hearing loss develops over a long period of time and often goes unnoticed. The risk is underestimated due to "apparent habituation", as noise-induced hearing loss is not necessarily associated with a sensation of pain. In addition, most consequential damage from exposure to noise is preventable with the right hearing protection and, unfortunately, irreparable.
Which hearing protection is right for me?
Depending on the extent and duration of the noise, it is important to differentiate between the various hearing protectors. In addition to the regulations themselves, the wearer must of course decide which ear protection is best for them. A basic distinction must be made between protectors on the outside of the ear and inside the ear. Personal preferences must nevertheless be subordinated to the working circumstances, as a high degree of flexibility in donning and doffing may be required in the event of periodic noise pollution, for example, or a detectable design may be essential in the food sector. In many cases, it is also worth customising the hearing protection to ensure the best possible fit adapted to the individual ergonomics of the ear.
Types of hearing protectors:
- Earmuffs
- Earplugs
- Hearing protectors with earpieces
- Customised hearing protection
Each hearing protector in a class of its own
With WERO, you will find exactly the hearing protection that meets your requirements. Earmuffs, for example, offer a long wearing time and maximum comfort during use thanks to their comfortable padding and the way they are worn on the outside of the ear, while earplugs are worn inside the ear and are characterised by their lightness and "invisibility". Regular use of the cost-effective earplugs is recommended via a hearing protection dispenser as a wall-mounted or floor-standing dispenser for easy removal and storage of the foam earplugs.
The hybrid solution of earmuffs and earplugs is achieved by using ear defenders with replaceable earplugs. With a headband system similar to that of earmuffs, but with replaceable earplugs, the headband hearing protection is perfect for work processes that require frequent donning and doffing thanks to its low weight and flexibility of use. The customised hearing protection, which is individually adapted to the ergonomics of the ear, offers the perfect fit. By creating an ear canal impression in your company, you can already benefit from the new generation of hearing protection.
