Water-repellent plasters from WERO
Minor injuries to fingers and hands occur from time to time during everyday work. Without the right wound care, however, these can severely restrict your work and make it unpleasant - you also expose yourself to an increased risk of infection. In order to be able to continue working without restriction, the injury should therefore be treated with the appropriate plaster as quickly as possible.
When working with wet or heavily soiled objects, a plaster should be able to do more than just cover the wound. The adhesive surfaces as well as the outer materials must be waterproof so that it does not peel off or become soaked. Our water-repellent plasters are ideal for this! Our wound plasters are not only water-repellent, but also breathable and hypoallergenic. No liquid gets into the wound and air can circulate easily.
Advantages of water-repellent plasters
Some plasters are cut to protect the fingertips, while other versions are suitable for the finger joints. Universal plasters can be applied to almost any part of the body. They can be used in a variety of ways, especially in the field of occupational first aid, where waterproof plasters are used. They adhere even when washing hands or using disinfectants. Some wound plasters also have a film coating, which provides additional protection against liquids.
In addition to the classic skin-coloured plasters, we also have detectable plasters in our range. These are particularly suitable for hygienic work areas, such as the food industry. Not only can lost plasters be located immediately thanks to their distinctive blue colour - they are also electromagnetically detectable.
Treat open wounds immediately
Open wounds in particular should always be treated immediately. The severity and location of the injury will then determine whether the activity can be continued. In the case of a finger injury, it may be necessary to wear a rubber glove in addition to the plaster in order to protect the injury and the plaster from external influences.
Plasters are particularly suitable for treating small to medium-sized wounds. If the wound is larger, bandages and wound dressings are a sensible choice. Large injuries, deep cuts, severe bruising and scalds should be treated by a doctor. This also applies if the area is suppurating or the edges of the wound are inflamed. If the wound is no longer oozing and is closed by blood clotting, a plaster is no longer necessary. This is usually the case after three to four days at the latest. If blood continues to ooze after this period, you should also consult a doctor.
Wound care with water-repellent plasters
In the first few days after the injury, water should not come into contact with the wound as this interferes with wound healing. A water-repellent plaster also provides optimum support here. It is advisable to change this regularly. A clean plaster can remain on the wound for two to three days. If it is dirty, replace it daily or as required.
Hygiene is an absolute priority. Wash your hands thoroughly before dressing the wound. If this is not possible because the injury on the finger is too large, ask a colleague to apply the plaster with clean hands - preferably with disposable gloves. The surrounding skin areas should also be clean and dry so that the water-repellent plaster adheres better. The wound dressing should be slightly larger than the injury, as the adhesive surfaces must not come into contact with the wound. You can hold abrasions under running water to rinse off dirt before applying the dressing material, but you should not wash out deep wounds.
