Employers are legally obliged to provide their employees with the necessary first aid materials in sufficient quantities. First aid cabinets are suitable for centralised storage of first aid materials so that they can be accessed quickly in an emergency. They are an indispensable part of company safety and emergency equipment.
First aid cabinets are not only important in companies, but also in public institutions such as schools, nurseries, universities and public authorities in order to be able to respond to injuries or health emergencies. In leisure centres, fitness studios and at sporting events, the availability of first aid materials is essential in order to be able to react quickly in the event of accidents or injuries.
A first aid cabinet can also play an important role in private households in order to have the right tools to hand in the event of everyday injuries or emergency situations.
The technical rule for workplaces ASR A4.3 regulates the storage and location of first aid materials. First aid material must be stored in first aid boxes or other suitable containers. These containers must be distributed in such a way that the maximum distance to permanent workplaces is 100 metres or the height of a storey.
Our first aid cabinets are available both filled and unfilled. The respective fillings comply with the specified standards. In addition to the classic fillings in accordance with the DIN standard, we also offer fillings in accordance with ÖNORM, which have been specially designed for use in Austria.
Typical fillings are dressing materials in accordance with DIN 13157 in Germany and ÖNORM Z 1020 Type 1 in Austria. If an unfilled dressing cabinet is ordered, it can be customised and also used as a medicine cabinet or medication cabinet.
The main difference between a medicine cabinet and a first aid cabinet lies in the contents. In addition to bandaging materials, a first aid cabinet also contains over-the-counter medication for illnesses such as diarrhoea, cold or painkillers.
A first aid cabinet is primarily used to store first aid materials, but can also be used as a medicine cabinet. Depending on the equipment, our first aid cabinets can therefore fulfil a dual function and be used both for first aid and for storing medicines and medical aids.
High-quality first-aid cabinets made of sheet steel with epoxy synthetic resin stove enamelling are particularly robust and durable. In areas with high hygiene requirements, a stainless steel version is recommended. Depending on the location and local conditions, a design with interchangeable door hinges may be useful. Wall cabinets should also be installed securely. The first aid cabinet should be clearly recognisable as such.
To protect against theft, many models are equipped with a security lock and can be locked. Some first aid cabinets can also be combined, such as the WERO MaxiDeep 6 / 073 wall cabinet, which can be fitted on top of the WERO Space 6 / 072 or Big 6 / 071 models. There are numerous variants with one- or two-door models and a different number of shelves.
The most important features of WERO first aid cabinets include high-quality materials such as sheet steel, stainless steel or plastic, a safety lock (cylinder lock) with key, labelling with a first aid cross, a wide range of variants (including one and two-door versions, different numbers of shelves) and combinable models.
If broken, glass panes for the emergency key compartment can be replaced individually. Replacement locks and keys for almost all models are also available retrospectively.
