Apply a head bandage correctly
Injuries to the head are difficult to treat. Due to the good blood supply to the scalp, even harmless head wounds are often associated with heavy bleeding. First aid must therefore be administered and the head injury treated before a doctor is consulted. A simple solution from WERO is the sterile MediCap quick head bandage.
Why is a head bandage useful?
Wound care for injuries to the head, for example as a result of a fall or road traffic accident, can be difficult. In addition to the shape of the head, which already makes it difficult to apply dressings, the patient's hair is also a problem. It forms a dense layer between the scalp and the bandage, on which a classic bandage can only be applied stably with many layers of bandages and a fixation under the chin. The frequent consequence: the dressing slips and sterile protection of the wound is no longer guaranteed. We have developed the WERO MediCap head dressing for quick and easy treatment of head wounds.
What is the best way to apply a head bandage?
Step 1:
In the first step, the preformed cap is simply pulled over the head like a hat. The aluminium-free coated wound dressing prevents the dressing material from sticking to the wound. The cap is also highly absorbent, breathable and stretchable.
Step 2:
The mesh bandage firmly attached to the bonnet is pulled down over the head towards the chin to secure it in place.
Step 3:
An opening is made at face height by tearing or cutting. The bonnet is now fixed in place.
Step 4:
The flexible mesh bandage ensures that additional compresses or other padding materials can be applied and removed quickly and without slipping. The mesh bandage is also dimensionally stable enough so that even cooling compresses such as our WERO CoolPack instant cold compress can be applied without slipping for localised cooling.
