The special feature of ChitoSAM® 100
In contrast to n }}conventional haemostatic agents, in which a gauze bandage or wound dressing n }}is impregnated with a haemostatic (coagulating) agent or coated n }}, ChitoSAM® 100 consists entirely of chitosan. n }}An additional carrier material is not necessary due to the special processing n }}. As a result, the haemostatic effect is 25% higher than that of n }}classic chitosan products.
Active ingredient chitosan
Chitosan,n }} also known as poliglusam, poly-D-glucosamine or polyglucosamine, isn }} a natural biopolymer from the polysaccharide family that was first obtainedn }} in 1859 by boiling chitin with potassium hydroxide solution. Chitosan n }}is also used in cosmetics and industry as well as in medicinen }} not only as a haemostatic agent but also as an absorbable n }}suture material. In contrast to other haemostatic agents (haemostyptics) n }}, chitosan does not activate the body's own blood clotting factors. The n }}haemostatic effect is based on several properties:
- High absorption capacity: binding of fluids, fats and proteins
- Film-forming
- Concentration of coagulation factors and blood solids in the wound due to moisture removal/binding
- Electrophysiologicaln }} reaction=cationically charged chitosan also promotes the n }}concentration of anionically charged blood coagulation factors in the n }}wound
Chitosan also works reliably at lower n }}blood temperatures or when anticoagulants such as Marcumar n }}or heparin are used.
Application of ChitoSAM 100
Then }} ChitoSAM tissue is pressed directly onto the bleeding wound n }}for several minutes. This binds blood and wound fluid and results in n }}a clot. This is a great advantage for subsequent wound treatment in a n }}rescue centre or hospital, as the n }}gel-like plug can be easily removed. Due to the high n }}absorption capacity of the active ingredient, care must n }}be taken to ensure that the dressing material does not come into contact with the eyes n }}in the event of head injuries.
ChitoSAM 100 is atoxic, anti-allergenic, 100% biodegradable and can therefore be used without hesitation.
